Native to Southern California, Mitchell Gustin is a pianist, composer, performing artist, and music educator. His musical interests lie in crafting works for solo piano, chorus, string quartet, symphony, and electro-acoustic combinations. He also creates ambient electronic soundscapes through a live audio processing software called AudioMulch, where he improvises with field recordings, voice, alto saxophone, keyboard, ocarina, and found objects. His video practice explores the movement, shape, and limitations of the human body, while toying with the manipulation of light, layers, and abstract images.

Mitchell's experience in arts education spans five summers contributing as the Director of Productions to the IMPACT (Interactive Multimedia Performing Arts Collaborative Technology) workshop held at New York University, wherein a three-week arts intensive, international and U.S. students collaborate in multiple art practices to form a final multimedia production involving music, dance, theater, visual art, and technology.  He currently serves as the Music Director at the Gratitude Garden Preschool, where he involves students in a wide range of musical activity, such as: learning to play the ocarina, discovering different sounds and families of instruments, songwriting, and instrument building.

Mitchell holds a Bachelor of Music from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA, where he studied composition under the instruction of Janice Giteck.  He has plans of continuing his education to become a specialist in music curriculum and instruction for young learners.
